What makes a drinking-water tap different?
A kitchen tap used for drinking water needs more than an attractive finish. Its materials, internal water paths, valves and connections all matter. VZFX01 combines solid AISI 316L stainless steel construction with a dedicated filtered-water path and separate filtered-water control.
- Solid AISI 316L stainless steel: used for the tap body, spout and internal stainless steel water channels. This is a material choice, not merely a stainless-look finish.
- Separate filtered-water path: filtered water is routed separately from the ordinary hot-and-cold mixing circuit.
- Non-return valves in the cartridge seat: built into the assembly to prevent reverse water flow.
- 4-way preparation: current VZFX01 taps support a later change from a 3-way to a compatible 4-way installation.
From 3 ways to 4: keep the tap, expand the system
In a 3-way installation, the tap supplies ordinary hot and cold water plus filtered water. In a compatible 4-way installation, it can also provide sparkling water supplied by a separate carbonating system.
The current VZFX01 construction is already prepared for this fourth connection. The practical advantage is clear: adding sparkling water does not require purchasing and replacing the tap itself. The additional equipment and the necessary connection work remain part of the system upgrade.
The tap does not filter, chill or carbonate water on its own. Those functions are provided by the equipment connected to it. Before an upgrade, check the exact tap version, connections and system compatibility.
Non-return valves: a functional detail inside the tap
VIZIO integrates non-return valves into the cartridge seat. Their function is to allow water to travel in the intended direction and prevent it from flowing backwards. This is a deliberate construction feature, separate from the filtered-water channel and from the ceramic cartridge's opening and closing function.
AISI 316L: specify the material, not just the appearance
For the VZFX01 stainless steel construction, VIZIO specifies AISI 316L. A brushed or polished surface alone does not identify the underlying alloy. When comparing taps, look for the stated material and a clear description of the components it applies to.
