S.O.S Leaking Tap!

In today's post we are going to talk about a common problem many people have; a leaky tap!

Premise: Although it rarely happens, unfortunately it does occur from time to time.

To best comprehend the article let us first understand how a modern kitchen tap is structured.

A modern kitchen tap is equipped with a mixing cartridge for hot and cold water, this cartridge works through two ceramic discs that have a mirror-polished surface, one facing each other, so they cleave the water and hold it. With the tap handle, you can mix cold and hot water and adjust the amount of it.

Basically, there are two main reasons why a leak occurs with water coming out of the spout or tap handle:

  1. The first reason: Pressure changes, or air infiltration in the pipelines (due to lack of water or due to continuous work on the pipelines), can cause pressure surges inside the tap, due to the fact that water is not compressible, while air is easily compressible, thus causing violent surges; also called "water hammer," which can reach up to 25bar and obviously damage the cartridge and other components of the tap.
  2. The second reason: dirt particles, mostly consisting of small grains of sand or pebbles, which are found everywhere inside water pipelines. The main reason for their presence inside the pipelines is due to repairs that are done constantly. Because of these particles, the mirror-polished ceramic discs are inevitably scratched, thus compromising the water seal and leading to a leak (the famous water droplet that drops copiously, despite the water being shut off)

Ceramic mixing cartridges and tap aerators, are consumable components and therefore not covered by factory warranty. Nevertheless, our main goal is to provide our customer the best possible service, so we provide spare parts at an advantageous price in the market, not profit from it in any way, thus helping our customer!

Once you have purchased your spare part, replacement is relatively very easy to do, you can even be helped by an explanatory video, which we can send you to guide you step by step!
